Elena Gagon Dunn

I grew up surrounded by animals, two rambunctious Labradors and one sweet-souled cat who were as much a part of the family as anyone else. That early bond shaped how I think about animals and the people who love them.
In college, I got my first cat, a Norwegian Forest Cat named Rom. He was my heart cat. When Rom’s health declined, caring for him through that season gave me hands-on experience with medications and insulin shots, something I now offer to any client who needs it.
By day, I work at the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra creating programming for children and families. There is a particular kind of reward in making something meaningful for people who need it, and I bring that same care and attention to every animal I look after.
I have been pet sitting privately since 2014, with additional experience through Rover and Wag. I share my home in Decatur with my husband Nash and our two cats, Agatha and Arthur. I schedule a meet-and-greet before every booking because your comfort and your pet’s comfort matter just as much as mine.

I grew up in North Carolina with a sweet dog named Shelby. When I moved to Decatur I found my community home at Decatur Package Store, where I have served as General Manager for several years. If you know the store, you know it is far more than a liquor store, and I am proud to be a part of that.
When Elena and I moved in together I met Rom, her large Norwegian Forest Cat, and quickly learned cats were nothing to fear. Rom had a way of sizing people up. He decided I was worth his time, and that was that.
My heart animal was Goose, a food driven and people loving Corgi who was more human than dog. Goose wanted to be everywhere I was, whether that was the lake, the mountains, the beach, or the streets of New Orleans in his backpack. When Goose passed in 2024 after a long battle with degenerative myelopathy, the love that poured in from the Decatur community meant everything. Goose had that effect on people.
I have been pet sitting privately for family and friends since 2019. I do not take lightly what it means to care for someone’s animal, and I bring that same steady warmth to every visit.
